I do believe to this day Kitty (originally known as Puppy) was a
Gift sent from God. He was the absolute best kitty in the world, and
put up with so much in his lifetime.
Kitty was originally owned by one of my first roommates when I was in college. She actually
wanted a dog, but since we were living in an apartment this was not
an option. So instead she got a kitten, and named him Puppy. I was
not thrilled with this name, I did not like it at all, but he was
not my cat at the time, so it was not my decision. He was such a
wonderful kitten and had been with us for a couple of months while
living in the apartment. We had not paid the pet deposit due to lack
of money therefore when problems arose with one of the roommates,
we were faced with her telling the apartment complex about the cat, so
what we had to do was get rid of the cat so as to not get into trouble
with them. I called my Mom and asked her if I could take him there
since I really loved him and I did not want him to be put with
someone who would not love him like I did. So I took him to my
parent's house to live.
Marbles was still there at that time, and she was not happy one bit
with having this new kitten around. She had been the only cat in the
house since she had gotten there, and was very jealous and angry. I do
believe this is when she started to get at her worst behavior which
eventually led to my parents taking her to the farm. Kitty was such
a mild mannered cat that he did not care if she liked him or not.
He was well loved in the home, and recieved much attention from us.
Everyone loved Kitty, because he was so affection, so playful, and
just an overall great cat. My Mom really grew to Love Kitty, and to
this day misses him very much. I don't think that I have ever seen
such a good mannered cat ever. He did not jump on counters, he did not
scratch up the furniture, and never wanted to go outside. He was
completly content with staying inside with the family. He was so
beautiful as well, with his long grey and white fur.
After Marbles was taken to the farm, Kitty was by himself, but not
for long. My Mom had given me another cat,
Tory, who in the long run had also gone to live at my parent's house.Tory
and Kitty became very good friends. Unseperable at times. It was quite odd
since usally two male cats brought together at such an older age usually
do not get along so well. But these two did. There really was no
struggle for control in the house and they treated each other like
equals. They truly were the best of friends.
Over time Kitty began to have some problems, and had begun to
start peeing on the rug which was very odd for him to do since he
had always been such a good cat. So something must have been seriously
wrong. Being neutered he should not have been doing that. He was taken
to the vet, and we were told that he had a very severe urinary tract
infection. We were told not to feed him any canned food, only dry food.
So ever since then he had not eatten canned food. He was given some
medicine which he hated very much, and was better for a bit, but
this would soon bring him to his dimise.
I left for bootcamp on Jan 7, 1996 and was very sad to be leaving him
because he was so very special to me. I loved him so. I was later to
learn after I had gone to be stationed in Puerto Rico that he was to die
on our back porch. He had been very sluggish, and was not looking very
well at all. He laid down on the back porch and was found dead later
on that day. My Mother was very upset by this, and cried for a long time.
She had really loved him, just as I. But I think that the one who
was most upset about all of this was Tory. He had lost his best friend, and
was depressed for quite some time after that. To this day he had not bonded
with any other cat. I know how he feels. There is no other cat
quite like Kitty. He will be forever loved and remembered.
