Marbles was my very first cat, and though she was not always the
best cat in the world I loved her just the same. One day my Father
and I went to the local grocery store to get some groceries and outside
of the store was a woman with a box of kittens. They were so adorable
and I just wanted one. Most of them were tabbies, but she was the only
black and white cat in the box, therefore sticking out, and I wanted
her. We went inside the store and bought some cat food and other
kitten items and when we came back out I took my cat home.
My Mother was not too happy about having a cat, she had never been too fond of them,
but over time she grew somewhat fond of her. I was so excited, since
this was my very first cat, and the very first time that I had a pet of
my own. We had had dogs, and bunnies, and birds prior to this, but
never a cat and never one that would be all mine. And she was all mine.
Too bad she did not see things that way!!! LOL My friend Mary helped
me think of a name for her and we thought that Marbles fit her well
since she was black and white.
Over time I am not sure what happened however Marbles began to be
a very unhappy cat. She was very moody, and did not want anyone to
touch her except for my father. I was very upset by this since I loved
her and wanted her to love me but she saw things differently. She
was not always like this though, there were some times when she was
affectionate with me, but my Mom thought that she had a "psychotic"
problem...lol As she would sit on her spot on the widow sill she would
swipe out at anybody who walked by.
I graduated from highschool and then headed out to college, leaving
Marbles at home with my family. I don't think that she missed me too much
but oh well there was nothing that I could do about it. I took her in
with me for my graduation pictures which you can see below, however
she was not too happy about that either.
After a while Marbles behavior got really bad, and my parents decided
that they would take her to a farm where one of their friends lived
since she was obviously not happy with her current living conditions.
To this day I do not know where she is or if she is still alive. I
highly doubt that she is alive since she would be almost 20 years old. I
do so much hope that she was able to live a long and fruitful life, because
even if she did not love me, I loved her.
