Pictures of me
In Boot Camp

I have been in the military for over 7 1/2 years. I Joined the United States Navy on Jan 8, 1996, after a long decision. I had been attending college at Eastern Michigan University, and had decided that the military would be the way to go. I started my career off as a FN, not knowing that I went the wrong route. Actually I did not have a choice in this matter. I was suppose to have gone to an "A" School, but they ended up sending me as a FN. After Boot camp I was stationed in Puerto Rico, which I loved very much, but the work was very long and hard. I worked on a Tug Boat (YTB 803) I learned a lot of things there though. I learned how to be a woman in the military competing with men and having to prove myself, and to learn how to be a leader. And I also learned how to be a hard worker and to always fulfill my goals. Though I did not like my job there, I can honestly say that it made me a better person, and I now appreciate my military job even more.

After waiting two years, I was finally sent to DLI (Defense Language Institute) to learn a language. I was very happy because I was finally doing something that I really wanted to do, and I had worked hard to accomplish this.

I am now stationed in San Antonio, and I really like my job. I am now a third class petty officer, after having to give it up for so long just to get this school, and I can actually say that I am finally enjoying my military career. I hope that there is more to come for me as a military member.
