Women of The Civil War
Most people who think of the Civil War they think of the millions of men
who fought against slavery, and died for their country. However, the civil war
produced numerous prominent women in our history from the
freedom fighters such as Harriet Tubman, to the womens activist such as
Elizabeth Cady Stanton, to the women who served in our wars such as Jenny
Hodges, and Sarah Edmonds. These women, along with numerous other women
have marked a place in our history by showing that women can be just as patriotic,
and strong as men. Because of the many strong women who fought under disguise, as well
as outright, who nursed the wounded, and who fought for the rights of the minorities, I wish
to pay tribute to as many of the women as possible. Therefore, I have divide this section into four
sections.
