Your Marine is leaving today for a posting overseas
So when you speak to your Marine remember please
It is a difficult time in a Marines life having to say good bye
Concealing the fears that must not be seen by your eyes
We want to shout "It's not fair that you're being shipped out"
That we are going to miss you when you're not about
That we're going to fret and worry and live in abject fear
That something is going to happen now that you're not here
We know we shouldn't rant and rave and continue to fuss
But God it's so difficult not to scream yell and cuss
We have to remember that you are one of the very select few
And put on a happy face and not look so sad and blue
We know that you'll do what is needed to keep us safe and secure
To guard our shores and protect our values so evil will not recur
So put a lilt and some laughter in your voice as you see your Marine leave
Save your tears and fears till your Marine is gone as that's the time to grieve
