1776 Lady Washington:
Very First ship named after a woman. Named in honor of Martha Washington. This was a small wooden gunboat built in
New York to defend the Hudson River.
1858 Harriet Lane(Revenue Cutter)
The first armed Navy ship named after a woman. Named in honor of President James Buchanan's
Neice, Harriet Lane Johnston, who served as the White House's Hostess. This ship was captured by the
confederates in January 1863, at Galveston.

1944 Watseka (YT-387):
Harbor Tug named after a Pottawatomi Woman
1945 Higbee(class destroyer):
First warship named after a woman, and first to take part in combat operations.
Named after Lenah S. Higbee, who was the superintendent of the Navy Nurse Corps
from 1911-1922.
1996 Hopper DDG 70 (Guided Missle Destroyer):
Commissioned on January 6, 1996, at Bath Ironworks In Bath, Maine. Named after
Rear admiral Grace Murray Hopper, who was the pioneer in the field of
computer technology, and led the Navy into the computer age. This was the second time that
a ship was named after a women from their own ranks.
Currently these are the only ships that I have found that have been named
